ModernShapeWorks is a five-person design studio on the Costa Brava. We design websites, identities, and the small pieces of brand language that hold both together — for founders, independents, and the kind of small businesses we like to spend time with. Plain typography, generous space, and an eye for detail that we honestly enjoy fussing over.
How we work
The things we actually hold to on every project. If one of these doesn't fit your team, we're probably not the right studio.
Five people, one room above a chandlery on Carrer de Buenos Aires. We share the work — every project gets a designer, a developer, and a project lead from kickoff. Nobody on the kickoff call disappears before launch.
We don't hand off a logo and walk away. The way the brand appears on a homepage is part of the brand. We design the system end to end, so the typography on a button is making the same argument as the wordmark.
The proposal lists what your project actually needs and nothing else. If a section of the site shouldn't exist, we say so. We'd rather ship six pages we believe in than twelve we don't.
We use Statamic, Kirby or a small custom CMS — never something that needs a developer to fix a typo. Every project ships with a 30-minute video walkthrough, a one-page handbook, and our number for when something feels off.

They walked into the studio, watched us throw a pot, then went away and made the brand we'd been trying to describe for fifteen years. Six weeks. The catalogue alone made the year.
Three studios pitched. Theirs was the only proposal that read like a real plan. The figure on the proposal matched the figure on the invoice — for a small business, that's nearly unheard of.
They edit. That's the difference. Most studios add. Lia and the team take things away until what's left is the thing.
